Intro to Material Graph
Here's the problem.
KeyShot's Material Graph is one of the most powerful tools in the software. It's also the one that stops most designers in their tracks.
If you've opened it, looked at a web of nodes and connections, and quietly closed it again — this course is the right starting point. It won't turn you into a Material Graph expert, but it will make the tool feel approachable and give you the foundation to start using it on your own projects.
What This Course Covers
Theory Lecture
Why you should use the Material Graph, how it works conceptually, and what connects to what. Covered via slideshow with a PDF you can keep for reference.
Live Demonstration
Four distinct material types created step-by-step. Through repetition you'll start to recognize patterns and see how the most common nodes are used together.
Live Q&A
Questions from the original live class attendees, answered with additional visual demonstrations. Extends the teaching with more practical examples beyond the four materials covered in the demo.
By the end you'll understand the logic behind the Material Graph, know how to navigate the interface, and be able to start building your own materials using the most commonly needed nodes.
What students say about my courses

Meet your KeyShot instructor
I wanted to create a platform that enabled me to teach others the skills and techniques I wish I'd known sooner. I share only the most effective methods to create stunning visuals and how to apply this knowledge in practice through my various courses, tutorials and resources.
My Do-The-Work Guarantee
This is a do-the-work guarantee. Work through the course, apply what you learn, and if you genuinely followed the process and still can't implement what I taught, email me at will@willgibbons.com and I'll refund you.
I stand behind the result, not just the experience. What I can't refund is a course that was purchased but never opened.
Frequently Asked Questions
How much KeyShot experience do I need?
No prior Material Graph experience is needed. You should have a basic familiarity with the KeyShot interface. If terms like diffuse, specular, bump, and roughness are unfamiliar, I'd recommend reading up on those before starting.
What version of KeyShot do I need?
KeyShot 6 Pro or newer to access the Material Graph at all. KeyShot 9 Pro or newer to follow along with everything shown in the course.
How is this different from the KeyShot Material Masterclass?
This course is a two-hour introduction recorded live in 2020. It covers the essentials and gets you started quickly. The Material Masterclass is a comprehensive 22-hour course covering every material type, texture, and node in KeyShot with full project-based sections. If you want the complete picture, the Material Masterclass is the right choice.
How long will I have access?
Lifetime access. Once you purchase, the content is yours.
Can I download the video lessons?
Not on the current platform. This will change when the course migrates to Teachable. Lifetime access customers will be notified when that happens.
